House Rule Aid Another

Normally, a player may attempt to “aid another” on a skill check. The check would be DC 10 and, if successful, the player would grant a +2 bonus on his or her skill check.

House Rule:

You may choose to “aid another” to add a bonus greater than +2. The final DC is 5 x Modifier. So, to provide a +2 would still be DC 10, but to provide a +5 would be a DC 25 skill check.

Note: in order to add a bonus greater than +2, you must have at least one rank in the skill.

Note: for every five points by which you fail to meet the target DC, you actually impede the primary player’s progress, subtracting one from the player’s result.

Example 1:

Player A wants to add +4 to Player B’s Knowledge check. The DC is 20.

Player A rolls a 25.

Player B gets a +4 on his or her skill check.

Example 2:

Player A wants to add a +2 on Player B’s Knowledge check. The DC is 10.

Player A rolls a 0.

Player B gets a -2 on his or her skill check.
